Allure Beauty Box Fall Must-Haves Review

allure

I’m going to start off with a confession. I set a timer on my cell phone to make sure I got one of these boxes! I tried to get one of the Summer boxes a few months ago and it had sold out 10 minutes before. I couldn’t let that happen this time! I went on at 12:01 and quickly ordered my box and my order number was in the 800s! Allure beauty box is a seasonal box that is first come, first serve type of box and these sell out quick! Usually around 10-20 minutes! Crazy right?!

The Fall box was filled with around $350 worth of beauty goodies and was only $39 + $10 s/h + $2-$3 tax. totally worth it!! Almost everything was full-sized and the box weighed over 10lbs! I love that the items included are items that I will actually use! Plus tried and true bestsellers from high-end to drugstore products! I was not expecting it to ship so fast!

Here’s a look at what was in the box:

ALlureshave

1. Schick Hydro Silk Razor $6? //  This razor is AMAZZING! I usually use men’s razors but this was way better. It left my skin really smooth. I won’t be using any other razor and I’m so excited they have them at Sam’s club!

2. Skintimate Sensitive Skin Skin Therapy Moisturizing Shave Gel $3.79 // I’m happy they included this! It’s scent free and is pretty thick when I lathered it on my legs. Love it.

3.Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Leg Makeup $12.99// I tried this and didn’t like this at all. It reminded me of an episode of south park  “It’s a jersey thing”. I put a little on my legs and it was really streaky and orange. I’m going to try to mix it with some lotion so it’s not so intense.

4. Sally Hansen Ouch-Relief Pre-Wax Strip Kit $8.99 // I’m happy to have this, I wouldn’t have bought this on my own, mainly because I’m a big baby when it comes to waxing and I would rather have someone else inflict the pain on me. I’m excited that these are ouch-relief though! Being a girl can be so painful sometimes!!

face

5.Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash $6.99 // I like Neutrogena and I know this is a classic, but I have months worth of face wash so this is going to my mom.

6. RoC Multi Correxion Eye Treatment $25 // I have used this twice a day since it came in the mail. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I have been stressed to the max lately! Work, toddler, etc… this might be my favorite thing in the box! I love this more than the Philosophy “hope in a tube” I was using before.

7.Redermic R Dermatological Anti-Aging Treatment Intensive $56.99 // I’m a sucker for eye creams and skin care in general. I am so excited to try this. This is supposed to help  correct fine lines, deep wrinkles, and premature sun damage. It also has caffeine in it!

lotion

8. Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion, Fragrance Free // $11.49 I like Cetaphil and I really like this lotion. It’s not my absolute favorite but I love that it doesn’t have a fragrance and it’s hydrating.

9. Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer $22 // This is supposed to correct dark spots in a week. I haven’t used it, but I’m glad they included this in the box.

10. Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer $8.99 // This was my first time using something from Simple. I was shocked at how hydrating the lotion actually was. It made my skin feel so fresh and healthy! I will be picking up more from this brand.

hair

11. Style Sign Magic Finish Brilliance Hairspray $17.99 //I have been using dry shampoo instead of hairspray this summer, but I tried it out and it didn’t leave my hair sticky or stiff. This will be great for the fall.

12.KMS California Hair Stay Anti-Humidity Seal $17.99 // Doesn’t smell bad, but not as good as my Bedhead “Headrush” shine spray . I have been using this after straightening my hair and every single time my hair stayed straight all day! Even in the east coast humidity! LOVE this! Where has this been all my life?!

13. Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-Dry Lotion $18 // I adore Redken. This was very silky, smooth and added volume to my hair after blow drying it.

hairoil

14. Global Keratin Serum $25 //This was apparently supposed to be oil, but I got serum. No complaints here, I’ve never used this brand but I love using stuff like this on the ends of my hair because

15. Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil $30 // Redken all soft collection is one of my favorites and I love argan oil.

hairmask

16. Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask $6.99 // I used this once and it didn’t work as well as the Carol’s daughter, it was thick and made my hair soft though. I also like the smell of this over the other.

17. Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask $32 // I don’t like the smell of this at all. I have damage from coloring my hair and bleach from highlights. I did notice that the tangles disappeared when I was washing it out of my hair! I don’t think it was 96% repaired like it claimed. It worked really good, I just wish it didn’t have a strong floral scent.

nails

18. Sally Hansen Salon Manicure Cuticle Eraser + Balm $6 // This cuticle balm as a light cucumber scent. It’s really moisturizing and I really like it! I will probably buy this again when I run out!

19. Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure $8 // All in one manicure ?! Sign me up! I’m all about saving time and I haven’t used this yet but I’m excited to try it. I love the color too!

20. Sation Nail Laquer in Wine-y Happy People $5 // This is a perfect fall color! Plus with football season starting this is perfect for me because I’m a Raven’s fan! Haven’t tried this yet, but I will be using it!

21. Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips $13 // I don’t know how I feel about the pattern that I got. It kind of reminds me of gaudy curtains. I do love the salon effects nail strips though and have tried this before. They’re perfect when you don’t have time to wait for your nails to dry. I also love using them for an accent nail!

pixi

22. ROC retinol correxion sensitive night cream- $1 //  An added bonus to my box! I gave this to my mom because she also loves stuff like this.

23.Pixi Eye Bright Liner No. 1 – Nude $17.00 // This eyeliner is supposed to make your eyes look bigger. I have eyeliners like this one, and I don’t really use them as much as other eyeliners. This is my first Pixi product that I have owned, I’m not crazy about it and probably wouldn’t pay full price for it.

24. Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry and Dark Chocolate $3.30 // I didn’t like the smell of this, I love blueberry anything and Burt’s Bees is a brand I frequently buy, but I will be giving this away.

This  was my first box and it was amazing! So worth setting a timer on the phone and writing it down on my calendar! I will be doing the same thing when the next box comes out! For only $52 I got over $350 worth of beauty goodies and I think this may be the best valued box that I have ever bought!

What did you think of the Allure fall must have box? Have you ordered one?

XOXO,

Erin

Olay Fresh Effects review

I tried this product and had high hopes. I like Olay and I really thought that this product was going to be great. I received this product in my Influenster Sunkissed VoxBox. It’s a free box that Influenster sends out to members to test and review products. You can learn more about Influenster here, I have 2 more invites if you’re interested in joining. ( go to the contact page and I will email you an invite. )

Unfortunately I did not like this product at all. I have combination skin, that tends to be a little more on the oily side than dry. When I put this on the first time, I liked that it blended into my skin really easily. I also liked the scent at first, until I was wearing it on my face all day. If you’re sensitive to scents or perfumes, I do not recommend this product. I personally will not being using this as a base for my makeup. I didn’t like the sheer coverage it had and I did not like smelling like the BB cream all day. It made my face very oily and shiny. By the end of the day my makeup was all sorts of messed up.

Description on the box:

B.B. Cream, also known as beauty balm, is one of Asia’s hottest beauty sensations. Its multi-tasking formula works to moisturize, brighten and help protect skin from harmful UV rays. This silky, tinted lotion blends effortlessly with your natural skin tone, helping hide imperfections and minimizing the need for concealer and foundation. With just one use, skin will be left glowing naturally even.

it also states on the box: 6 skin perfecting Benefits: Refreshes, Brightens, Evens tone, Hydrates, Smoothes, Protects. All-in-one solution for instantly brighter-looking, smoother-feeling, more even skin tone.

I would only wear this if I was going to be outside for a short period of time. If I were to be at the beach or at the pool for a few hours, I would not put this product on. I did like that it made my face feel a little more hydrated. The Olay Fresh Effects BB cream only has SPF 15, which is really next to nothing (especially in the summer time). On the box it says to reapply at least every 2 hours, use water resistant sunscreen if swimming or sweating.

A little bit about the product:

$12.99 at most stores (Target, CVS, etc.) Not sold with the makeup, but I actually found this product in the skincare/face lotion section.

Comes in two shades: Fair to light and Light to medium (I personally have not found Medium to dark anywhere)

Directions: Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours. Use water resistant if swimming or sweating.

(swatch of the product).
Final verdict: This product just was not for me. If I had dry skin this product would have been better I think. I also think that maybe if I had gotten a shade that was a little darker, maybe that would have looked better on my skin. This product did make my face feel more hydrated after using it, but that’s pretty much the only thing I noticed about this BB cream.  If I were grading this product I would have to give it a D.

Have you tried Olay Fresh Effects BB cream? What did you think?

XOXO,

Erin

disclaimer: I received the Olay Fresh Effect BB cream, complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. I was not paid for this review or post. All opinions of this product are my own.

Glossybox June 2013 confirmed spoilers

I just recently found out what’s going to be in June’s “American Beauty” Glossybox! Glossybox collaborated with fashion illustrator/it-girl, Dallas Shaw this month and I’m really excited for this box to get to make it’s way to my mail box.

Here’s what will be in the June American Beauty Glossy box via Dallas Shaw’s Blog

glossybox arew

It looks fabulous! I love that she designed the box and there will even be an illustration in the box to enjoy!

On the Glossybox website it said my box had an estimated delivery for today, June 19th but with some apparent issues with one of the products they were going to feature, I received this email from Glossybox on June 17th:

photo (7)

On Dallas Shaw’s Blog  She had this to say:
“I would like to share a small change in the collaboration with my followers, fans and friends. When the nail company we originally planned to include defaulted on their plan to provide the polish, we decided to replace it with a different product on my love list (one that has also been personally chosen by me and which I feel confident that you’ll enjoy). I apologize for any confusion this caused subscribers and I thank you for the amazing faith you always placed in me and my brand.”

Regardless, I think I will order some of the Bondi nail polish because they seem like a great company and I’m really curious about their products. They’re a fairly new company and from the website they seem to have a great selection of products! I love that the names of the nail polishes are New York themed.

I’m also happy that I picked up another box for only $15, so I will be getting two boxes this month and at the time I used the PROMO CODE: “LOVE” for a full-sized ModelCo eyeshadow but I think that the code is now expired you can use the PROMO code: GIFT for a Full-size ModelCo Lip/cheek tint.
You can still get your own American Beauty Glossybox for this month just go to Glossybox.com and don’t forget about the PROMO code: GIFT for your extra beauty gift! Subscriptions are $21 per month and I think the value of the products in the box are well worth it and pay for the box themselves.

Here’s what will be in the June American Beauty Glossybox:

Glossyboxes?! My very lucky day!

Hey Everyone!

I guess the subscription box gods loved me yesterday because not only did my Julep Maven June box come in the mail, my May 2013 Glossybox came! I was shocked to see that there were two Glossybox packages in my mailbox. At first, I thought that maybe I had gotten charged for both… I frantically checked my bank account and I had gotten both boxes for only $21.00! Everything in both boxes were exactly the same (Except one had my free eyeliner in it from my promo code). I ended up giving the second box to my mother, why? Because I love her and she never buys stuff for herself, and two I was a horrible teenager who would raid her beauty supply on a regular!

photo (2)

The month of May Glossybox turned one! Happy Birthday Glossybox! && thank you for both amazing boxes!

I used the promo code “wink” and got a free eyeliner with my first box! It a matte brown liquid liner, I’m not huge on wearing brown I prefer Black liquid liner but hey, free is free! I will probably end up using it eventually. That promo code is now expired, but you can use the Promo code “LOVE” for a full sized ModelCo eyeshadow ($22 value)

When I initially opened my box, they had the Glossybox Mag right on top which had some really amazing articles in it about beauty from all around the world, Lash Lust and an article about one of my new favorite bloggers/it-girls/Fashion illustrators, Dallas Shaw! She collaborate with Glossybox for June’s special edition box called “American Beauty”. Everything in the box is made here in America and Dallas Shaw personally picked out. I have to say, I am obsessed with her style! I can see why she has worked with brands like DKNY, Chanel, Kate Spade, Anthropologie and more. You can see some of the spoilers for the June box from my post a couple days ago. I think this is going to be the best box yet! If you haven’t subscribed to Glossybox, go to Glossybox.com (The box will ship the end of this month)

In both boxes I got :

This was the first box, with my eyeliner I got from using the promo code- WINK

My second box that went to my mom:

photo (7)

sample of Epionce intense anti-aging+ Repair serum This sample is really, really small but I look forward to using the expensive brand lol. I don’t think I would pay $136.00 Full price for the 30 ml you get for that price, but I’m curious about how the product is going to be! (my sample was 4 ml and a value $18) (Full size is 136.00/30ml)

1 Etre Belle collagen & aloe vera hydro mask- I’m actually really excited to try this mask! I will try to review the products when I actually have the chance to use them. (value $3.95) (Full size is valued at $39.50/10 masks)

European wax center In box boxes I got two samples each (4 in total, which I’m guessing are about $1 each?) 1 “The exfoliate” (4ml) ,1 Slow it down body wash, 2 Slow it down body lotions ($4.00? value for all) .I also got a coupon for a free bikini line wax/eyebrow wax or underarm wax! YAY! – I’m not going to guess how much those would be, but the value is great and I will definitely be locating the spa near me to use it!

A full size ModelCo lip duo lipstick & shine ultra lipgloss (Retails for $39!) I personally didn’t like the lipstick, but my mom did. In both boxes they were the same shade. I however did love the lipgloss. It smells amazing and isn’t sticky at all! the packaging even has a cute mirror on it, perfect for your purse!

swatches of both the lipgloss and lipstick:

Nicka K New York- Absolute! Perfume stick Full size!! (Full size retails at $14.99/ .29 oz.) I am in love with this smell. It has a citrus smell to it which is one of my favorites. I wore it today and mixed it with my Dolce and Gabbana light blue and had my own amazing signature scent. (I felt very glamorous) . In both boxes the scents and sizes were the same.

Sebastian professional volupt spray- (travel size worth $6.69/) full size is $19.95/5.07 oz. I also got a coupon with for the Sebastian professional line to use at Ulta for a free 1.5 oz. SHAPER or SHAPER plus with any $15 Sebastian purchase ($8.95 value)

Box of my boxes together were valued at over $169.00! each box was worth about $84.00 not including the free wax coupon, eyeliner or the Ulta coupon.

I think this monthly subscription box is worth it. The packaging is adorable, it came in a light pink save-able box that I will be reusing. The products were good, I haven’t really heard of most of the brands in the box, but it’s nice to try products I wouldn’t have normally found out about. That’s the whole reason I love subscription boxes is trying new products and brands! I’m really not sure why I got two boxes in the mail, but I’m glad my mom got to get my extra box!

&& again if you haven’t subscribed to Glossybox, what are you waiting for? Click on this picture below, and be sure and use the promo code LOVE if you’re ordering so you can also get something extra in your fabulous Glossybox!

giftbox

It’s $21 a month, and ships at the end of the month and contains 4-6 deluxe samples-full size products!

June 2013 Julep Maven Nantucket Nostalgia Collection

This month I ordered the “Bombshell box” from Julep. This is my second box and I’m not going to lie, I came so close to ordering the entire collection! This month I decided that I was only going to buy one add-on and I’m definitely pleased with my entire box!photo 2 (1)

Update: On a side note before I get into what I got inside my box, last month I got the “It girl” Intro box with a bright yellow Crème nail polish color called “Abbie”. My first reaction after I put it on was vindication that I had finally gotten the perfect neon yellow for summer UNTIL I took it off! My finger nails are still stained French’s mustard yellow. WTF?!? So my advice for anyone uses that polish is to wear a base coat! It’s probably my fault for not putting it on underneath the polish in the first place, but I was so shocked when I took off the polish. I look at my nails in shame now 

I got 3 nail polishes (Payton, Raegan, and Bunny), the new julep DD cream (Light) and a couple pieces of salt water taffy! I added the white nail polish “Bunny” for $4.99 with my box.

I’m in love with the colors of this box! Payton is a beautiful Kelly green crème, Raegan is an Electric dark pink Crème and Bunny is a Crisp white linen with fine gold shimmer.

photo 3251

The new DD cream is valued at $36.00 regular price and if you’re a Julep Maven it’s only $28.80

On the julep website it says: “A dynamic do-all makeup that goes beyond BB crème to moisturize, prime, perfect, and protect—both instantly and over time.”

photo 1

• It has SPF 25
• Anti-aging ingredients that decrease the appearance of pores and fine lines
• Hibiscus and olive extracts for hydrated skin
• Buildable coverage and smooth finish
• Comes in four shades: Light, Medium, Medium-dark, Dark

My total box value was around $78 (full price without the Julep Maven discount)
With the Maven discount this box is worth about $62

The Julep box is a monthly subscription service that is about $20 a month. Every month on the 24th they send you an email with your monthly picks for the upcoming box. If you like what they’ve picked out for you, you don’t have to do anything. You have the chance to skip your box, pick a different box, add items into your box for an additional fee, get the entire collection, or send it to a friend. They Charge you on the 27th of the month and send it out after that.

Pros:
• You can skip the monthly box if you don’t like what’s in the box, want to send it to a friend or if you just want to save your $20+
• The colors are beautiful and you only really need one coat to get the true color of the product.
• Packaging is beautiful

Cons:

  • In my first box, one of the nail polishes severely stained my fingers yellow (and they have been stained for about 7-8 days now)
  • The products that come in the box are pretty tiny compared to Essie/OPI/Zoya.

If you want to order the Julep box you can use the promo code – Freemaven  or Freebox  and  get your box for free, only pay the $3.95 shipping and handling!  Click on the picture below:

maven-bg-2012-09

Hope you loved the review! I can’t wait to do a review on the DD cream. anything that actually get rids of the appearance of my pores is a winner in my book!. So let’s cross our fingers and hope that it’s worth it. What did you get in your julep box? Have you tried the DD cream? Leave me some love below!

XO- Erin
